Acceptable use policy
DiGi Links links must lead to honest conversations with real businesses. This policy lists what links may never be used for and what we do when they are.
Last updated
The short version
- No spam, phishing, scams, impersonation, or illegal or adult content.
- Only message people who want to hear from you, and follow WhatsApp’s own policies.
- Misused links are paused, and serious or repeated cases lead to account closure without a refund.
- Anyone can report a link, and we review reports within 24 hours.
This summary is here to help you read the full text below. If anything differs, the full text applies.
1.Why this policy exists
People tap a DiGi Links link because they trust it will open a chat with a real business. When a link is misused, the people who click it get hurt, and the domains that every customer’s links run on can be blocked by WhatsApp, browsers and email filters. So we take misuse seriously and act on it quickly.
This policy applies to every link, link name, title, phone number, pre-filled message, QR code and account on DiGi Links, and to everyone in a workspace. It is part of our terms of service with DIGI GROWTH IT SOLUTION L.L.C, the company in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, that operates DiGi Links.
2.What links may never be used for
Spam and unwanted messaging
- Sending unsolicited bulk messages, or promoting a link through spam emails, SMS, comments or direct messages.
- Messaging people who haven’t agreed to hear from you, or using bought, rented or scraped lists of phone numbers.
Phishing, scams and fraud
- Pretending to be a bank, government department, courier, telecom operator or customer-care line, or asking people for OTPs, passwords, PINs, card details or KYC documents.
- Scams of any kind, including fake jobs and paid “tasks”, investment or trading tips with guaranteed returns, loan and recovery scams, lottery or prize scams, fake “digital arrest” calls, and fake sellers who take payment and never deliver.
- Pyramid, Ponzi and other schemes that pay earlier members with money from new ones.
Impersonation and deception
- Pretending to be another person, business, brand, public figure or public body.
- Link names, titles or messages that mislead visitors about who they will be talking to.
- Using someone else’s trademark or brand name without their permission.
Illegal or unlicensed goods and services
- Drugs, weapons and explosives, counterfeit goods, stolen data or accounts, fake documents or certificates.
- Gambling, betting, lotteries and online money games where they are unlawful, including those prohibited under Indian or UAE law.
- Financial services offered without the licence or registration the law requires, such as from the RBI or SEBI in India or the Central Bank of the UAE.
- Anything else that is illegal where it is offered or where the people you contact live.
Adult sexual content
- Pornography, sexual services or sexually explicit content.
- Any content that sexualises minors. We report it to the authorities.
Harmful or misleading claims
- Health claims that aren’t supported by evidence, such as miracle cures, or selling medicines without the required licence.
- Misleading financial claims, such as guaranteed income or returns.
Hate, harassment and violence
- Promoting violence, terrorism or hatred against people because of religion, caste, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability or similar characteristics.
- Harassing, threatening, stalking or exposing the private information of others.
Malware and harmful downloads
- Leading people to malware, spyware, fake apps or APK files that steal data or take over devices.
Getting around WhatsApp’s or other platforms’ rules
- Using links to evade WhatsApp’s Business Policy or Commerce Policy, for example to sell products WhatsApp prohibits, or rotating across numbers to keep reaching people after WhatsApp has restricted a number.
- Link cloaking: showing reviewers, bots or ad platforms something different from what real visitors get, or using our links to hide where a link leads to get past the rules of an ad network or social platform.
Abuse of the service
- Creating links in bulk with scripts, scraping the service, or creating multiple free accounts to get around plan limits.
- Probing, attacking or overloading the service, or testing its security without our written permission.
- Reselling or white-labelling the service without an agreement with us.
- Collecting visitors’ personal data without the notice or consent the law requires.
Found a security problem? Please tell us privately at [email protected] before sharing it with anyone else, and give us reasonable time to fix it. We won’t take action against good-faith research that follows this approach.
3.Your responsibilities
You are responsible for every link in your workspace, the numbers they lead to, the messages they pre-fill, and what your team does with them. That includes following the laws that apply to your business and advertising standards: in India, for example, the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and its e-commerce rules, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023; in the UAE, its consumer protection and personal data protection laws.
Only add phone numbers you are allowed to use, and make it clear to visitors which business they are about to chat with.
4.How we enforce this policy
We look at links that are reported to us or that we come across ourselves, and a person on our team makes the decision. Depending on how serious the problem is, we may:
- Warn you and ask you to fix the link.
- Pause the link. Visitors then see a page saying the link is paused instead of being sent to WhatsApp.
- Remove or rename the link name, for example when it impersonates a brand.
- Limit features or ask you to verify your identity or business.
- Suspend the workspace or account.
- Close the account permanently, without a refund.
- Preserve information and report it to law enforcement or other authorities where the law requires it or where people are at serious risk.
We usually start with a warning, but for phishing, fraud, malware, content that harms children, or other serious harm we act straight away and tell you afterwards. Repeated or deliberate misuse leads to permanent closure.
5.If you think we got it wrong
Reply to our notice, or write to [email protected] with the link and why you think the decision was mistaken. We look at the case again, and if we got it wrong we restore the link and tell you. You can also contact our Grievance Officer as described in the terms of service.
6.Reporting misuse
If you see a DiGi Links link being misused, report it with our report form or by email to [email protected]. We review reports within 24 hours. You don’t need an account to report a link.
Lost money to a scam?
In India, call the national cybercrime helpline 1930 straight away, or report it at cybercrime.gov.in. Acting quickly gives your bank the best chance to stop the money. You can also report the chat inside WhatsApp.
